Letter, May 4, 1841, to Oliver Hotchkiss of Kirtland Ohio re: report to Dr. Gallard on the First Presidency, judgment on mortgage on House of the Lord, arrivals in Nauvoo and settlement of debt for "Plates". Letter Aug. 25, 1841, to Horace Hotchkiss, New Haven, Conn. re: payment of interest on Nauvoo land purchased from Hotchkiss and Smith Tuttle and arrangements for payment with Hyrum Smith and Isaac Galland. Letter, Oct. 9, 1841, to Smith Tuttle re: payment to Horace Hotchkiss and Tuttle, why Galland has not paid and requesting postponement of payment till Spring. Statement of account, ca. 1841, with estate of Oliver Granger. Note, Feb. 24, 1842, authorizes Ebenezer Robinson to print 150 copies of the Book of the Mormon from stereotype plates. Letter, May 13, 1842, to Horace Hotchkiss, Fair Haven, Conn., gives reasons for petition of bankruptcy. Complaint filed Dec. 1, 1842 of Ira S. Miles to Mayor Joseph Smith against Amos Davis for selling liquor. Note, May 16, 1843, verifying validity of copy of ordinance (copied) against Vagrants and Disorderly Persons accepted 1841, signed by Mayor Smith. Receipts, 1839, 1842.

Letter written by Hyrum Smith and signed for Joseph Smith from Nauvoo, Illinois, to Oliver Granger. Smith writes of a Mr. Devenport from New York who brought a judgement in favor of Boynton & Hyde, and urges Granger to pay the "just" debt. He also writes of the deaths of D.C. Smith and Robert B. Thompson from "quick consumption", mentions Brother Phelps and Hiram Kimball, and describes drought conditions. Smith concludes by writing "this is an Eventful Period...A day of Darkness...what ever ...
